STONE PAVEMENT

This exercise was to do pavement around the farmers center.

Main idea was to make the work more interactive with the mason and helpers and to see what all the material of the surrounding which is of no use can be used somehow in the design.

We were able to use some glass bottles and broken pieces of bricks

BRIEF OF WORK

Last rains resulted in water seepage into the floor of the structure of farmer centre there was need to do hard pavement with proper slope so the water runs off easily and in future option to harvest the rain water.
Discussion with the mason and helpers to be involved was done.

1. CONCEPT OF WORK

  • To make work more interactive with people involved in the exercise.
  • How to incorporate waste in surrounding into the exercise.
  • What can be alternate materials for the work.

2. DESIGN OF WORK TO HAPPEN

  • Small layout was developed on site plan.
  • Slope for water discussed (with people living in surrounding about natural water low).
  • Design was discussed with the mason and people involved in the exercise on site

6. LAYING OF STONE

  • Space for nallis (channels) were made over the leveled
  • Stones were laid over with the help of soot (thread).
  • Patterns were made with soil, glass bottles, bricks, stone and slate stones.

7. CLEARING CHANNELS FOR THE FLOW OF WATER

  • Channels were cleared for proper low of water with slope.
  • Planned leaving the channels in mud only (to experience the low how it will behave).
  • Planned to plant some small plants so it can hold the soil from washing
